Family values inspired by the rituals of Hajj
Al-Mawadda Association for Family Development in Makkah launched a campaign during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, aimed at reinforcing family values through informative media content and awareness sessions. These sessions aim to enhance familial values that contribute to family stability and strengthen familial bonds among its members. Ten family values were inspired by the rituals of Hajj and its significant days, which families should adopt and implement:
1. Following the teachings of Islam: Derived from the rituals of Hajj, which encompass essential pillars of the pilgrimage.
2. Family worship and obedience: Reflecting the significance of the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah as the most beloved days to Allah.
3. The importance of striving: Inspired by the physical and material efforts required for fulfilling the pilgrimage duty.
4. Obedience to parents: Modeled after Prophet Isma'il's obedience to his father, demonstrating Allah's pleasure with his actions.
5. Maintaining family ties: Drawn from the practice of distributing sacrificial meat to relatives, the needy, and the poor, as instructed by Allah.
6. Equality in love and giving among children: Reflected in the equality observed during Hajj, where there is no distinction between individuals.
7. Spreading peace and tolerance: Inspired by the prohibition of hunting during Hajj days, promoting respect and harmony among family members.
8. Family unity in attire and rituals: Symbolizing the unity of the family unit, essential for familial stability.
9. Respect and appreciation: Derived from the directive of avoiding indecency, immorality, and disputes during Hajj.
10. Family cohesion: Inspired by the tradition of socializing and visiting during Eid al-Adha, fostering love and affection among family members.
The initiative also included informative evening sessions during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, focusing on the values of Hajj and their significance for families, conducted by experts in various fields of family development. This initiative aligns with the association's commitment to enhancing the status and stability of families and promoting the acquisition of scientific and knowledge-based skills among family members.
