To enhance the role of the family in protecting the environment, Al-Mawaddah is approved as an observer member at the COP16 conference in Riyadh

 

In a move that reflects Al Mawaddah’s commitment to supporting sustainability issues and protecting the environment, Al Mawaddah Family Development Association has been accredited as an observer member at the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. This conference is one of the most prominent global environmental events that focus on efforts to combat desertification and promote environmental sustainability at the level of countries and organizations.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Mawaddah Family Development Association, Eng. Faisal bin Saif Al-Din Al-Samnoudi, explained that the accreditation is supported by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and the Vegetation Cover Development Foundation (Marouj). Al Mawaddah’s participation comes as part of its commitment to strengthening the role of the family in protecting the environment, as the association believes that the family is the foundation for building a society aware of sustainability issues, and that spreading environmental awareness begins with the family. By educating family members about environmentally friendly practices and teaching children the importance of preserving natural resources, the family contributes effectively to achieving a more sustainable society, which the association is keen to support through its programs and initiatives.

Al-Samnoudi added that this participation is an important opportunity for Al Mawaddah Association to learn about the latest international initiatives and experiences In the field of combating desertification and preserving natural resources, and enhancing its role as a non-profit organization seeking to spread environmental awareness among various segments of society. Its role as an observer at the COP16 conference will also enable it to represent Saudi society and the family in particular, and participate in international dialogues on policies and strategies aimed at combating desertification and enhancing the sustainability of natural resources.
