The Al Mawaddah Association has launched a Family Counseling Practitioner Competency Assessment Guide, a qualitative step toward regulating the profession and improving the quality of its outputs, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to enhance quality of life and support family stability. The guide reflects the association's commitment to regulating the quality of counseling services and developing the competence of practitioners through an applied self-assessment model covering three main stages:
(before, during, and after service delivery).
The guide is based on three main criteria, 10 sub-criteria, and 76 detailed indicators, carefully developed to cover the professional, personal, and ethical aspects of the practitioner, along with practical tools for measuring and improving performance.

In developing the guide, the association relied on internationally recognized experiences and standards in Australia, Canada, the United States, and Europe, enhancing its reliability and ensuring its alignment with global best practices in the field of family counseling.

The guide includes a comprehensive content model, including a competency assessment model, practitioner job requirements, criteria areas, and a review of the results of a national survey that monitors the impact of counselor competence on the beneficiary family.

The guide targets three main groups: family counseling practitioners, counseling and protection centers, And government supervisory bodies, and it is a professional work tool that can be applied in the field, helping to build the capabilities of guides and develop the work environment, and supporting supervisory bodies in evaluating and controlling the quality of service.
