"Al Mawadda" launches its third annual Short Values Film Award

The Al-Mawaddah Family Development Association launched the third season of its Values-Based Short Film Award, targeting university students across the Kingdom. This initiative is part of the association's ongoing efforts to promote family and social values through modern, creative tools that harness the potential of young people.

The launch of this third season builds upon the success of the award's second season, which was launched under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, Governor of Jeddah. The second season saw widespread participation, with over 1,391 students from seven Saudi universities submitting 76 films. These films reflected a growing awareness of the importance of family values and their role in building a cohesive society. The competition concluded with the awarding of prizes to six outstanding teams for their contributions to values-based media production.

Mohammed Al-Nashri, Director of Family Programs at Al-Mawaddah Association, emphasized that the award represents a prime example of utilizing creative media to promote values. He noted that the increasing participation in previous seasons reflects the awareness of young people and their desire to contribute to creating meaningful and impactful content. He explained that the third season comes with a developmental vision aimed at strengthening family and community values through cinematic art, empowering young people to express themselves creatively and purposefully, and integrating theoretical training with practical application. This contributes to the production of short films with a positive social impact and the discovery and refinement of young cinematic talents.

He indicated that the new edition of the award has witnessed a qualitative expansion in its scope, targeting the participation of 13 Saudi universities representing 13 administrative regions, with the involvement of over 1,000 male and female students across 200 teams. The program also includes four artistic and values-based training workshops, the production of 200 awareness films, and competition for 10 awards, with a targeted media reach exceeding 10 million views, reflecting the ambitious scale and anticipated impact of the program.

He added that the association seeks, through these initiatives, to build a conscious and influential generation capable of using creative tools to promote values and solidify the concepts of family stability. He emphasized that investing in the potential of young people is a fundamental pillar in achieving sustainable social impact. It is worth noting that the award comes within the framework of Al Mawaddah Association’s role in empowering youth and enhancing their community participation, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals of building a vibrant society, developing national capabilities, and supporting initiatives that contribute to promoting values and quality of life.
