Jeddah – On the occasion of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, Al-Mawaddah Family Development Association reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of life for older adults and protecting them from all forms of abuse and neglect. This commitment stems from its developmental mission aimed at building stable families and a more cohesive and supportive society.

The CEO of Al-Mawaddah Association, Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al-Radhi, explained that older adults represent a great national and social value, possessing accumulated experience and enduring contributions that have helped build families and society. He emphasized that caring for them, preserving their dignity, and promoting their well-being is a shared responsibility that aligns with the goals of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its ambitious Vision 2030, which has given special attention to older adults within its quality of life and social development programs.

Al-Radhi noted that the association provided services to 22,895 senior citizens between 2023 and the end of the first quarter of 2026 through a comprehensive system of family, social, psychological, and counseling programs. These programs aim to strengthen family stability, protect the elderly, and empower them to live in safe and supportive family environments.

He explained that the association's services for the elderly include psychological counseling, family therapy to resolve conflicts related to elderly care, psychological support sessions to help cope with loss or chronic illnesses, intervention in cases of domestic violence or neglect, case management in coordination with relevant authorities, in addition to psychological and social support, home visits for the most vulnerable, and psychosocial support groups.

The association also provides legal and Sharia consultations, as well as virtual and online consultations that facilitate access to specialized services for senior citizens and their families. Furthermore, it offers family training programs that promote intergenerational communication within the family, raise awareness of the mental and social health of the elderly, and contribute to the prevention of domestic violence and neglect. Al-Radhi emphasized that the strategic role of the Al-Mawaddah Association in serving the elderly is based on strengthening their position within the family, developing families' abilities to interact positively with them, raising community awareness of their rights and needs, and supporting policies and practices that contribute to providing safer and more stable family environments for them.

He concluded his statement by stressing that World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is an important occasion to promote a culture of respect and appreciation for this precious segment of society and to solidify the values ​​of kindness and social solidarity. He called on all members of society to contribute to protecting and caring for the elderly and appreciating their pivotal role in building future generations and strengthening the stability of families and society.
